Sarum Super ARAY XLR Analogue

Sarum Super ARAY XLR Analogue

One of the major benefits of handbuilding cables is that cable configurations can be optimised for every type of termination. Compare a Sarum Super ARAY XLR cable to an RCA version and you’ll notice the cable is heavier and larger. To optimise the performance of the Sarum Super ARAY XLR means adding another signal cable identical to the other signal cables and this applies to the super ARAY conductors as well. Then we designed an aluminium back shell that is machined for us. It means that we can accommodate the extra cables in a way that avoids any compression on the conductors.

Some components use a balanced design right through the circuit and if this is the case with your equipment then there’s a good chance that the XLR connection is going to be a good option. There are other components where the XLR sockets are added as an option. If you know that your component is a balanced design fine, if you’re not sure then speak to the manufacturer and get their advice.

The real answer though is to try both – The Sarum Super ARAY RCA and XLR use identical cables, they are both more musically transparent than about anything we’ve heard and their transparency, neutrality, and ability to carry a signal with such a huge degree of musical coherence means that the difference between the two connections will be incredibly easy to hear.

The Sarum Super ARAY XLR is available in standard 1 metre lengths. Longer custom lengths are available to order and custom means custom – if you need a 1.6 metre length then we can make it for you.

I still do not think I was in the slightest prepared for the effects of swapping...

Hifi+ Awards 2016: Analogue Audio Cable of the Year - Chord Sarum Super ARAY

If this system’s sense of easy musical expression, expansive dynamics, and rhythmic flow set it apart, then that is due in no small part to the cables connecting the components getting out of the way and letting them do their job, something which Sarum Super ARAY achieves so effortlessly that you barely notice its contribution...
