ChordMusic streaming cable

Every now and then something really surprises me and the ChordMusic streaming cable did just that. I turned to Alan, shook my head and said “that’s just ridiculous, that’s so big” and then walked out still staggered by what I’d just heard.

The track Alan played was Sand Castles by Beyoncé and the streaming cable did what very other ChordMusic cable does, it turned it into a real living musical performance in our demo room. After experiencing the capability of Taylon® insulated analogue and digital cables, we had to design a streaming cable too.

The streaming cable follows the same principles that we use on the other ChordMusic cables. Silver-plated Oxygen free copper conductors, Taylon® insulation and multiple layers of high frequency shielding protected with a white PTFE outer jacket.  The super ARAY conductor geometry is the version we developed for the Sarum Super ARAY streaming cable and it’s fitted the noise reduction material and external shield that we use on all the ChordMusic cables we produce.

The RJ45 plug is the same that we use on our other Tuned and Super ARAY streaming cables. It’s built with high degree of precision, contacts are gold-plated, the body is plastic rather than metal, and we can modify it so we can solder the conductors into place.

We haven’t built a complete set of ChordMusic streaming cables for the dem room yet. What we’ve been doing is putting ChordMusic between the source and the switch (that’s what Nigel heard in the dem room).  We’ve used the ChordMusic streaming cable with the acknowledged class leading streamers, we’ve used it with some of cutting edge digital amplifiers and we’ve used with some of the do it all integrated and pre amplifiers that are available. In every case it bought layers (and layers) of musical detail that transformed the sound. The decay of a piano note left to die naturally at the end of a song revealed the timbres and overtones that are the beautiful swansong of a dying piano note.

We are still finding out exactly how Taylon® insulation behaves, it’s a quite unique insulation material and hasn’t been used with audio cable before.  Right now we’re finding the commonality of the improvements to timbre, coherence and musical detail along with the utter lack of cable colouration analogue and digital Taylon® insulated ChordMusic cables remarkably similar.

Find your nearest ChordMusic dealer borrow the ChordMusic streaming cable and try it between the switch and the streamer; just be prepared to lose the weekend listening to music.

Product review: Chord ChordMusic – Gadgety News Oct 2016

One sure-fire way of starting a flame war on forums and Facebook pages is by mentioning the abilities of cables in your Hi-Fi system. Some will argue based on pure science, others by experience. Personally, I choose to use my ears and a healthy dollop of skepticism. The thing is, no matter the reason, leads...

Product review: ChordMusic press launch – The EAR April 2016

ChordMusic the inside story Chord has officially launched its most ambitious cable range to date in ChordMusic. First previewed at Bristol last year it has taken until now for Nigel Finn and Alan Gibb to gather enough of this uniquely insulated cable to build both interconnects and speaker cables for the ChordMusic range. The ChordMusic...
