Chord Odyssey speaker cable - technical info
Chord Odyssey speaker cable shares its principal design features with Chord Rumour. Like Rumour, each conductor is made up of 19 strands of silver-plated oxygen free copper surrounded by Teflon insulation. The major difference is the size of the conductors. Whereas Rumour uses 1.5mm diameter conductors, Odyssey uses a larger 2mm conductor diameter. The larger diameter conductors carry dynamic information extremely well and produce real improvements to the weight, attack and dynamic of bass, likewise mid and treble. Cymbals are noticeably more realistic and acoustic guitars and pianos more lifelike. This ability to carry dynamic information so well also means that Odyssey produces a remarkably musical and coherent sound. This ability to produce a taste of high-end performance at what is perceived as a bargain price has helped the Odyssey to win the Hi-fi News Best Speaker Cable award in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005!
Chord Odyssey is available in three configurations:
Odyssey 2 is a twisted pair twin conductor cable with an overall diameter of 8mm.
Odyssey 4 is a bi-wire cable. The silicone outer jacket contains two sets of twisted pair conductors. The overall diameter is 13mm.
Odyssey Install, like Rumour Install, is simply the twisted pair twin conductor configuration used in Odyssey 2 but without the silicone outer jacket. The multi-stranded conductors are tightly configured and the cable is able to hold its twisted configuration. The 6mm diameter of Odyssey Install makes this an ideal choice for any high-end installation and the silver-plated conductor and Teflon insulation combination offers all the installation advantages of Rumour Install.

Chord Odyssey should be installed in a system so that the wording on the outer jacket reads from the amplifier towards the speakers. [Read more: Why are Cables Directional? ]
