Picture
quality is as critical to the home cinema experience as sound is
to a musical experience and the same fundamental design principles
apply to cables designed to carry visual information. Chord produce
an extensive range of cables designed to carry both analogue and
digital picture signals. Chord Company produce composite, S-Video,
component, Scart and HDMI cables.
As
with audio cables, choice of conductor material, insulation material
and quality of shielding are all critical and Chord's composite,
component and Scart cables all use a purpose-designed very low loss
sub-miniature coax cable to carry picture signals. The cable is
able to carry a high quality picture over lengths of up to 35 metres,
making these cables ideal for high quality projector based home
cinema systems.
Chord
produce two S-Video cables, the S-Video Copper and the S-Video Silver.
Over short lengths the difference in picture quality is not particularly
marked but in lengths of 5 metres or over, the high performance
S-Video Silver will maintain picture quality and lengths of up to
20 metres are possible. Both the S-Video Copper and Silver are identical
in design, the critical difference being the silver-plated conductors
and the choice of Teflon in place of polyethylene as insulation.
All
Chord's analogue cables can be terminated with a huge variety of
plugs and as well as standard RCA plugs, S-Video plugs and Scart
plugs, Chord analogue picture cables can be supplied fitted with
BNC connectors, VGA plugs and D-Bus connectors. If you cannot see
the connection you need, get in touch with us.
Chord
produce two HDMI cables. The Lo-Pro, a cost effective cable designed
to transmit a 1080p signal over lengths of up to 5 metres and ideal
for rack-mounted screen and DVD combinations. The HDMI Silver Plus
1.3 is capable of carrying a 1080p picture signal in lengths of
up to 40 metres and is the cable of choice for any high performance
home cinema system. Chord also produce two high quality gold-plated
adaptors, designed to connect HDMI cables to DVI or MI sockets with
minimum signal loss.
